Post subject: | Bump stops AND Hydro Fixed!! |
Just noticed my hydro car has no front bump stops, I think they were removed when I had shocks fitted to the front. I do have problems sometimes with the tyres (6x10) rubbing the guards under heavy cornering (eg downhill hairpin) As you can see in this pic it's not exactly low, I've certainly seen cars sitting much lower than mine. Should I have bump stops? And which type is recomended? If I had bumpstops could I then maybe get away with the car sitting a little lower? ![]() |

if you had bump stops you could probably get away with no suspension at all though it would not be nice when i first drove mine the cones were stufed all it had was the stops and it was bad |

If no bump stops you can bust balljoints.... ![]() Stock hydro ones are easiest they just bolt on. I shaved 4mm off the points of mine. ![]() |

my 72 clubman is hydro and with out front bump stops althought it does sit nice and tends to grab guards on hard cornering or turning on the brakes.. I am using standard bump stops in mine but i also have had some works replica stops made for the front which are in contact all the time.. they work really well but defeats the purpose of comfortable hydro.... might as well have no suspension at all.. lol.. Id be bolting some standard ones back in atleast to prevent and guard damage |

Yep them's the ones. You can get competition ones, but unless going offroad rallying they are too tall. Fine on the back though to replace the `hole in block' originals which are usually busted. |

The only mod will be that you will need to drill them out to 3/8th before they a will go on the car. |

when I converted my blue S to dry suspension I left the bumpstops out and discovered very quickly how important they are... if I went over a bump with a big of lock it'd pull the steering to full lock not pleasant |

No need maybe, as he's got a hydro car. But you need to drill them out if running front shocks. |
