Post subject: | Lockable Fuel Caps / Aerial |
My brother's fuel cap was stolen the other day. Two-thirds of the tank evaporated away. Luckily they didn't shove crap into it, but it would have been easy to. I raced out and bought a lockable fuel cap for my Mini to save any possible heartache. Just thought people would like to know... It's one of those things that can get overlooked, and prevents thugs from f-ing around. Also, aerials inside your windscreen rubber seal prevents the same thugs from bending that too. |

Yeah that's how I have the aerial on my Mini. Also, it keeps the car's lines cleaner, especially since the body is debumpered/deseamed. I hate aerials with a passion. A stupid piece of metal sticking out of your car, just so you can listen to crappy pop radio music. |

Ive had a lockable fuel cap on mine since day dot. I havent done anything about a radio aerial, but left the hole in the front guard for its fitting at a later stage. I like the windscreen rubber aerial idea, pity I didnt hear of that earlier, could have filled the hole in ![]() oh well, back to Plan A, short black ![]() |

i bought mine with the standard fuel cap but bought a locking one soon after to stop said thugs messing about/fuel theft (if anyone was that desperate!). its a top idea, i reckon one of those locking filler caps with the flap over it would be RAD! the chrome one. PS i kept the original cap, just beacuse it looks better |

Yeah, a lockable Monza style one would be schmick. The lockability is more important than looks unfortunately. I reckon the cheapy ones you get at Super Cheap are OK. Nothing flash, but they do the job. |

I have no idea what the "internal" aerials look like actually. It's most likely a very thin wire as it needs to fit inside the windscreen rubber. And obviously it can't touch the metal of the body. I'm not too sure where you can get them. I do know that Minis look sooooo much better without an aerial jutting out of them (all cars do really). |

If you want one of those "Aston" fuel flaps, you will need a ROVER mini locking fuel cap for inside it too - cos that's all that will fit. (unless you buy the MEGA expensive self locking flap) I managed to buy an Aston type chrome flap for $90 and a ROVER cap and key for $20.... The Aston flap was from a guy in NZ, not sure if he still sells em or not.... This guy -->http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/show_member_listings.asp?member=415347 I think the retail price is around $200 or more ![]() |

Yes he does still sell them how ever the price has gone up a bit. Check his web site out for all things that he has got. Prices are in $NZ but you get free postage to Australia. http://www.minispares.co.nz/proddetail. ... 2DAF&cat=2 |
