Oz...where are the Group N boys??? Lots of rotaries (Sports Sedans??) and Sa/Sb sportscars..but only the one Mini.

signed: confused :?

[EDIT] Me bad....didn't notice the extra pages...sorry

Chris...great shots!!!

SO SO sad to see John Battersby in the wars again!! He wrote off a shell at Wakefield a few weeks back...and now has bent the new one (don't look too bad tho)

BTW what is the red thing @ day night OP 226.jpg...reminiscent of a Broadspeed GT from the back...but there is what looks like a big drop tank there... :?

"great pics BTW. but what is the story with the valiant IN FRONT ????"

probably being lapped!!!!! ha ha ha ha

Seriously the very best race I've seen was at Bathurst. Appendix J (as it was known in those days). A 1964 Valiant against a Mini. The camera crew stayed with thses to for almost the entire race even though they were coming 5th and 6th or something like that. The Mini overtook the Val over the mountain and the Val would overtake the Mini on Conrod.
The Mini ended up beating the Val because according to the Mini driver (can't remember his name and apparently he has now passed away) he held fouth gear on the Mini down conrod with full throttle and not worrying about any redline.

Does anyone have this footage? The Mini Had a boxing Kangaroo painted on the roof.

Yeah John Battersby crashed right in front of me, the pic doesn't show just how crossed up he got, it was a huige tank slapper. He came off the bridge first lap maybe cold tyres, but the back just stepped right out, he did his best to catch it and was really unlucky to hit the wall there.

Dave Grey in 181 had another trouble free run which was good to see.

the Valiant was getting lapped

The best race of teh day was between the Potts Manaro and all the minis, you can see one of them overtaling him on the grass in a couple of the pix.

The 850 (903cc) Coupe had a nice square Kamm tail AFAIR....I think it is a kit car like a Marcos....
