i have been buying heaps of tools lately, to replace some lost and damaged ones and to add to the toolkit.

So far ive managed to put together
- a full stanley socket set
- kinchrome ratchet spanners
- a proper greasegun
- a double flaring brakline kit
- a full solid barrel screwdriver set
- a torque wrench.
- tyre compressor pump

[EDIT]
- 1 1/2 deep socket
- ball joint cracker
- flywheel puller (homemade 40+ years ago)
-

and odd bits like 1 1/2 socket and bars, ring compressor, and a handful of bent spanners and stuff for specific jobs.

Any other suggestions on what i could spend my money on to make a full toolkit.

Brake Cylinder hone - but make sure it will go down to 5/8" (16mm) - most don't,
1 5/16" Socket (and is your 1 1/2" a Deep Dish type?),
Rubber Cone Compressor and I'd also suggest a 14mm Tap on a long extension to go with it,
Ball Joint Breaker,
12 V Test lamp with a croc clip one end and a sharp point on the other,
Decent Vice Grips (I only use the Vice Grip brand - others are usually crap),
Those plastic tools for prying trim off,
600 mm tyre levers - 2 of them. I have them but hardly ever use them on tyres, very handy,
A selection of hammers :D ,
Cold chissel again, get a good one,
A set of pin punches,
A long, bendy 'claw' grabber with the push button on the end (Jaycar have them),
Magnet on a bendy stick,
Small two leg bearing puller - get a good quality one,
Engine tune up tools to suit what you have (ie points, webber etc)

There are probably a few more items that haven't come to mind, but these in addition to what you have probably make the basis for a basic mini tool kit. If you wanted to start overhauling engines and gearboxes, there are a heap more tools that you'd need.

Hi Drexxle,
Earlier Mini's had "ball flares" on the brake pipes, so your double flaring tool may not be much help if you're working on Mini's.

Regards
Al

Other things you will value are things like a good work bench, quality vice,
bench grinder, air compressor, drill press. Probably one of the most useful tools I have bought is the vice.

i believe it depends on the nuts you use on the ends of the pipe, so just use the correct nuts for the correct flange. I fixed the last leak with a valve stem o ring. Its still on the car now.

The type of pipe flare required depends on what its sealing against, not the pipe nut

i tested the kit and you can use the included bit for the first bulge to create a ball end, i just used one smaller bit to compress it some more. If its a flare, can then use the clamp to fold it in on itself.

Most brake pipe flaring tools will do a single (the one that looks like a ball) , which you would usually need to do first, then you insert an adaptor to do the double or invert flare. Most of the flares required on a mini are singles, however doubles are required for the lines that connect to the rear flexible hoses on the traing arms. Also on a Moke where the lines are jointed in the side boxes.
