Post subject:  Carby Needle popping out

Gday guys,

The needle on-top of my carby pot keeps popping off when she revs too high.

I read a post on here a while back stating the lack of a rubber seal on the needle caused them to keep popping off, but I cant see where a seal would sit on my needle. Anyway, does anyone have picture or example for me to look at? Can I buy/make a seal myself, rather than buying a whole new needle?

Cheers guys!

Benny

Are you talking about the damper which goes into to the dashpot piston? The needle is situated at the base of the piston. Have you filled it up with too much oil? Is the thread stuffed? Raise the piston manually with the pin on the under side of the carb n see what happens.

Sorry to not reply sooner, havnt been back in quite a while!

Yes, its the piston damper assembly that keeps popping out of the dashpot. My old man said the oil level was fine, but I wouldnt know myself. I had a look today, and the thread seems fine, and the piston damper also has the seal on it still.

Might go out now and try to raisewith the pin.
