Post subject:  Morris 1100s id

Hi guys, it's not quite mini chat but its to do with my mini

I need help id'ing a morris 1100S as i have had a halfcut delivered sight unseen and it doesnt have a 1275 in it.... So i need help identifying wether it is a genuine S with the wrong motor, which would be a buyer beware situation. Or if its not an S then they can take it away themself.

Off of the compliance plate - YGS14 1599
10month/71
engine number - 10YTaH60396

I also noted it has a 100mph speedo (sideways not round)
Disc brake front end

As the only thing i know about morris 1100S is the larger engine i need help so i can sort out what is going to happen with the halfcut.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Engine number there is for a stock Morris 1100 (1098).
An 1100S manual number starts with 12YD/Ta/H

1100S automatic 12H169/H

Later Morris 1300 automatic 12YE/A/H

Yea i'm aware the engine is a 1100, hence the problem expecting this "s" to have a 1275. I haven't paid for it yet but someone is going to have to pay for the delivery at least, and i don't want to pay the agreed amount for an 1100

It is a Morris 1300 and not a Morris 1100S.
One big clue is that they stopped making the Morris 1100S in 1969.
So having a compliance plate means that it can not be a Morris 1100S.

This would mean it was a 1300 automatic, right? As all the manuals then got the 1500 OHC?

Thanks for the help, along with some information from http://www.elevenhundred.com/ident.php and the lack of the body prefix matching any morris 1100 number, and being complied in 71 i have a strong argument of why they should take it away and pay for the delivery themself

cheers

I'm wondering why anybody would go to the trouble of cutting a Morris 1100/1300 in half....It would be easier just to remove the engine.
Somebody else I am sure would buy the shell if in reasonable condition.

Judging by the condition of the halfcut, i doubt there was a single panel worth salvaging. The front is rusted pretty badly and has moss growing on it. And in true wrecker style they just cut the front off so you get the brakes etc as well rather then having to use a spanner or 2. I figured for 150 bucks it was worth the hassle of dealing with the half cut, but its not even a 1275...
