Hi everyone,
yesterday when i went to drive to work early in the morning, my engine developed a miss as soon as i started to drive. i had warmed the engine at idle for a minute or two before setting off.
i thought it may have been related to being cold or something similar. after a 5 km drive no change. no choke was used.
i pulled over and pulled the plugs and found cylinders 1 & 2 were very wet with fuel. there was spark at both cylinders, but both were not firing. i removed the leads while the engine was idling and cylinders 1 & 2 had no change to the missing, indicating those cylinders were the cylinders missing.
i drove the car home and let is sit there until this evening so i could have a look at it. so tonight i started it and had the same issue.
so i removed the carb, pulled it all down cleaned it all out, and re-fitted it, cleaned the plugs, and now it idles and fires on all cylinders again.
what i think happend was while the engine was sitting parked overnight before i had the missing issue, fuel had leaked from the carb into cylinders 1 & 2 and caused the spark plugs to foul the morning i drove it.
what would be causing this to happen? fuel leakage into the cylinders while the engine is turned off overnight.
any ideas? leaking pump jets?
thanks in advance
Jason
