For Oz Doors, I found 2 different 'Universal Kits' available, but to fit them in to a Mini would end up looking very 'added on' and I wasn't happy with the mechanical end of them. I ended up scatch building a set. Getting the motor and drive set up was very easy, but the real work was in making reliable limit switches and then modifying the door frame and A pillar of the body so that the wiring harness needed would fit without being crushed. It was all done and it was a hell of a lot of work. For Rover Doors, you can get kits from the UK. And before you ask, nope, the Rover ones won't fit an Oz door. |

Aussie doors are very easy to convert as there is a good amount of space under the quarter window to fit a motor. Clever people adapt it onto the regulator. |

As I said, I scratch built mine. The Motor / Gearboxes were not specific to any car, but are available to body builders for wiper set ups, swing doors and windows etc. These motor/gearboxes were not cheap, but I wanted new as I didn't want to have to re-visit them once fitted. I modified some original window regulators and had some gears cut to suit this and my new drives. I spent several days at different wreakers looking at what was fitted to other cars and how the worked etc. None I saw used limit switches, some had clutches and some just stalled the motor, draw your own conclusion from that. None I felt would 'adapt' well or easily in to a mini. Here are the kits that I found (but I felt wouldn't look any good in a mini) http://www.stagecopenrith.com/elecwindows.htm and http://reviews.ebay.com.au/How-to-insta ... 0001314857 Keep in mind that the system must be 100% reliable as it is an important part of the security and weatherproofing of your mini. I have some pics (somewhere), but this is all I can lay my hands on ATM ![]() By gtmowog |
