Post subject: | Coopers 130mph speedo's |
I just got out my old new stock 130mph Cooper S Speedo which i brought some time ago and just noticed the gear change marks between 40-60 mph, 80-100 mph 120-140 mph on my speedo are white arn't they suppose to be yellow. Any one got a real original Mk2 Coopers to check against I will post a pic shortly Thanks Kiwiinwgtn |

MK2 speedos are the 120mph ones, MK1's were the 130 jobs |

ah, OK... I have a UK MK3 S speedo here, yellow marks at 32, 55 and 76 mph. The number in the centre is SN-4421/32 - I'm not sure, but I think it was the same speedo for a UK MK2 not much info, but something here: http://drcwww.uvt.nl/~bogaard/speedo.htm I bought it a few years ago, and the owner said it was taken out of a UK MK3 in the early 70's and put in storage. The face is 2 parts, MPH on the outer, KPH in the centre does that help? I reckon the list of similarities between UK Coopers and Aus Coopers is much shorter than the list of differences, our cars were unique |

Thanks for the link, I have the Parnel Book thats what triggered me to the difference I am not to worried as the Speedo is going into my Riley Elf which I am putting a full set of Cooper S running gear into . (Does that make it a Riley S or a Cooperril LOL) But it just got me wondering as I brought this from Mini Spares as a genuine Cooper S Speedo. I think you will find this speedo is not identical to the originals fitted, but they are a (good) repro. Originals didn't have KMH round the inside (I think) and may well have had yellow gear markings. |

Genuine repro I suspect.. The english speedos as a point in difference to Oz also had that rolled edge on the chrome bezel you can see in the images... |

I'd say repro too... the speedo I have does have the kmh in the centre, but could be a slightly different font |
