Apparently these can now be had with oil drillings to the lobes. Anybody seen or used one yet? http://www.minimania.com/web/threadid/1 ... thread.cfm |

I doubt it, this drilling is common in other cars. eg. they drill holes down the middle of many axles, it makes em harder to break... ![]() |

Won't that lower Oil pressure as there will be more loss of oil ? Oil will go to the holes on the lobes and not to the Cam bearings. Not so keen on the idea personally. |

i was not talking about the cam being weaker , i was think of less oil fed up to the top of the motor, i think a good rollercam is better idea |

Hi Dodge I've been using these cams for over four years now and they work very well, the cams are made in Turkey and are very well made. If you ever find a way to make a roller cam work better than a good flat tappet cam in a mini please let me know ![]() Graham Russell |

Do they make your tappets last a little longer or is it for the benefit of the camshaft? |

Do they make your tappets last a little longer or is it for the benefit of the camshaft? I wouldn't be surprised if they reduce friction, making it closer to a roller cam. The oil is "injected" between the surfaces so there is a minuscule amount of lift between the tappet and cam. There is a name for it. Dave Rosenthal explained once. But I really don't know....just a guess. |

Hi mick Yes mick it does help both the cam and lifter, for one reason the oils we have today do not have the sticky aditive in them any more to allow the oil to cling to the cam while turning, this is why most over head cam motors run the cam in alittle bath of oil or are fed through a hole in the cam but mini's are lucky using a steel cam. The push rod ford motors i do use a cast cam which are a lot softer so i drill a hole right through the length of the cam then drill each lobe just as the lifter starts to rise up the flank of the lobe this helps them a lot.
