Post subject:  Mentor required out West

Im a believer in Mentoring.. and right now I feel that I need a mentor to help guide me with the rest of my mini restoration.

I was thinking of using the forums.. but I wouldnt mind if someone could come out, look at the car, hear my ideas and then put me on the right track.

I live in Cairnlea (near Deer Park/St Albans).

I have had my 1966 Morris Mini Minor Saloon (Dot) for 11 years. Mini Max and Marg told me, get it running before caring about how good it looks. Sound advice.

In the last year I have finally got it running. It isn't registered. But I'm happy with where it is at. I think that it now time to strip it but not quite sure of what is the best way to approach this whole restoration process.

I am not restoring it back to original. I just want a clean looking car.

I'd like to hear from someone who has gone through the process of restoring a mini, and who is happy to provide me with the guidance I need.

If you are interested in helping me out please send me a message.

BTW: I'm a computer guy so if I can help you in any way then I'd be glad to do so.

Bludot, Welcome to the forum. A few crazies here and there'll be few bun fights, but you won't find a more helpful, knowledgeable mob any where.
They will set you down the right track.

Welcome to the forum mate. Good luck with your restoration and I am sure you will find the guys and girls in the forum helpful. I am not very good with panels but suspension, engine in and out fixing things I am good at it. Give us a yell if you need help.

You could always organize a garage day to get help on the bigger jobs, once I,ve got the renovations under control my van project will back underway so the welder here will be available for use on doors, panels etc.

Mick would be the best person to speak to in regards to a bare metal resto Image

Hi Bludot.
Mentoring is a great concept. If fact Max & Marg have been my mentors for many years. Unfortunately they have retired from mini repair work now, but continue in their fantastic support and mentoring role to a young commodore cup racer.
There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum so don't be afraid to ask for help
Steve
