Did the Leyland Mini have a YG2S3 body number? What size is a motor with 1200 stamped on it, as i have seen engine sizes 1100 and 1275?

The YG2S3 Body Prefix is the 'base model' Mini 1100 (similar to Mini K but lower spec). Generally these were sold to the likes of the post office, GD Police Cars, and Utility Companies. It would be likely that some were also sold to the general public.

The 1200 engine prefix is unique to the Australian Clubman GT. These were either same as MKII Cooper S Motor (exactly except for the engine prefix no.) or where based on the 1100s type Block (no tappet covers) but with Cooper S Crank, Cam, Rods, Pistons, Cylinder Head etc.

Are you sure it is not YG2S 8?

If so, you may have a GT.... 8)

drum fronts, no booster and single HS2 carby, some cars may have had a twin tank put in as an aftermarket accessory.

The right hand tank was available as an option up to about 1971 or so.

Hey Kaka

I know the one you are talking about. Red with Gt stripes, i know there were pictures on either the GT site when it was running or on Gavins Gt register. I cant remember which one and i cant remember whether it was a genuine GT or not.

But for it to have twin carbs, a 1200 motor and fuel breather under the seat, as well as the condition of it from the ad looks incredible for 3500 is very cheap. I paid that for one that needed rust removal and was last regoed about 20yrs ago. So bargain.

make sure you keep us informed.

Just check behind the master cylinders in the driverside should read
