OK guys its that part of the restoration where the headlining needs replacing. Its a 1970 MkII S. The original is no good. It had the small rectangular hash pattern through it. As far as I am aware only MkI headlining is available through Newton Commercial.

So what is eveyone using? Is there something close? Or are you just using a standard "moon" pattern material? Or put in a Mk 1?

If it is the small cross hatch pattern it is the same as mini k, clubman mini's and GT's.

For my Gt i mananged to get some spares of the hood lining from people who were restoring cars and were not using them. Im going to make a good one from these. often there is only a panel or two that has a rip in it.

You can cut the ripped panels out and just replace them with panels from the good one.

I know originally they are all one single piece but if you cut out a panel and sew a new one in you will not be able to tell.

As for stains and all that stuff you can get them coloured which will fix all that

Thanks Bubba. I thought about that , I have 2 already. I think the problem is in the refitting and stretching to glue = RIP! They shrink and the material becomes brittle on edges where the old glue is.
Spoke to a trimmer today and they said they would not be able to patch a few together to make 1. I'd love to hear otherwise but I see the problem in refitting.

The Mini King stuff is the generic cratered material.
It fits very well actually, but the work is in the heat you use to shrink the material after fitting it into the car as best you can.

It’s old material. I need to chase up another one to repair as one panel has some tears and the back C pillars are a total disaster. My S was dismantled 20 years ago and I was unsure if this was the correct hoodlining.

I also wasn’t sure if it was correct as my 72 GT is different, but as Brenton has stated it should be the same. The GT has led a hard life so it wouldn't suprise me if it has been replaced at some stage.
