hi,sills have been replaced by PO but there are no jacking points in the sills. what can i do ? do i just use a different jack ? edit: where are the jacking points on a van ? cheers jayson |

you should be jacking from the subframe... not the 0.8mm(?) steel... |

i asked this question recently. gave up and used a trolley jack. anybody got a pic of a jack that would have come with a van. |

The van jack worked like a trolley jack but used a screw thread. Allegedly the same jack was used for a Jaguar E-Type Series 1. 
I was never sure where it should be used, so I only ever used it on the subframe, if I needed to change a flat away from home. At home I used a trolley jack. Cheers, |

bnicho, where would this have been stored in the van, behind the spare tyre, next to the battery. its a rather large looking jack. |

It's not as large as it looks.  It was maybe 40 x 20 x 5 cm. I've got another one for the Traveller somewhere. If I trip over it I'll measure it.
I used to store mine in a small hessian bag in the cavity behind the battery (behind the drivers seat). It fitted in there no problem. Cheers, |

Very interesting thread and I was thinking it last weekend while working on the wireing in my Van. I could not think where an original jack would be placed and could not think i'd seen one before. Could only think a small jack would site behind the battery with the plate between the two or behind the spare wheel on the passenger side. Ill be getting a small trolly jack myself as I don't trust sissor jacks at all |

interesting morris1100, the jack that came with the van is the scissor type with the hole in the top. Would all vans have had a cantilever, or would some of them come with a scissor jack. |

The hole in the sill for the sedan type "vertical pillar jack" is plated over from the inside on all Vans and Travellers that I've seen. So you cant use that type on them. Cheers, |

Had original vertical screw jack with arm that went into the sill - was a complete bodge unless on a flat surface...forget country roads. Bought a small scissors jack...gave original to someone wanting all original equipment for show. Difference is my Minis are drivers not show tarts. |
