Hi All, I bought a carpet kit from mini king in narelen (?) and i was wondering what people have used to glue it down since it isnt moulded??? Any help is appreciated!!! Thanks |

I just used a spray can contact adhesive from bunnings. Spray a coat on the panel, spray another on the back of the carpet, wait 30 secs or so for it to go tacky then press down. Also have a think about using Dynamat or similar product for sound deadenning. Makes the car/carpet feel ultra premium |

i was thinking that, but how else can you get the carpet to look nice and smooth without glueing it??? Spray adhesive sounds pretty good.......sounds fairly easy to apply |

I gotta agree, gluing carpet isn't the best idea (exception being the arches, cross brace pieces, sill etc), especially if it gets wet and you need to dry it out. You probably won't even know its wet underfoot, and this stuff doesn't give its moisture up readily. Carpet clips are another option? |

was thinking maybe use the spray adhesive on the wheel archs and the tunnel that the seats bolt too, so as to get it nice and neat and maybe stratically placed velcro on the main floor sections..... I have an underlay..its not dynamat but hopefully it should help Ill have a look to see what the carpet clicps are like.....anyone have any idea where i would find them?? Cheers for all the help!! |

Last set of carpet I put in the K was a moulded set, now about 10 years old but still sits ok, getting a bit worn now though. I just glued the footwells and the box section the seats bolt to. I saw the fibreglass mould of the Mini floor plan that the carpet place used for moulding the carpet. They were a local auto carpet supplier. The carpet would not be the correct type for a Concourse resto but fine for a daily driver. |

Add me to the camp who hates glued carpets... I never get get the car dry! I've found if the carpet slides around too much a few screws with a nice large washer holds the carpet in ok. No too difficult to get out when you need to as well. Cheers, Jacob |

My Rover had carpet "fixed" in with velcro. It didnt move and worked well actually. I have just gotten a 9 piece moulded set and its going to replace it. For the wheel arch, i have some padding whcih locks into the body with these bendy pieces of metal. I am glueing the carpet to the padding and then locking it all in by sliding it onto the metal piece. It can then all come out if needs be. My previous Deluxe had glued carpet and it needed replacement front floors where the water trapped under the carpet. Sure the windows should have been leak proof, bt thats beside the ponit.

And if you do, fit NEW door & window seals all round. Don't kid yourself it's a dry weather resto that'll never get wet- sooner or later, it will.

Prevois owner of my car glued the carpet and underlay to the floor. Nightmare to remove, let alone the fact that it had trapped moisture in there for years and the floor was rusting away. |

I have moulded ones with underlay. I just glued them near the outer edges. If I need to have a look I can peel them up, no big deal. |
