Post subject:  flicking rev meter

hello all just a small question on my autometer rev gage???
when i rev it up too 6000 to 7000 the gage needle sometimes sticks and flicks like its getting stuck.
its an all electric gage running straight from the coil...any idears???
maybe this is a sign of the coil on the way out...or just a wirering problem...
come to think of it it does it when i rev it to anything....but just not all the time.

Check all connections from tacho to the coil and earth, if loose tacho will jump about.

Question re the Pulsar dizzy- some older tachos don't like electronic ignition. Autometer should be OK though.

Mini points don't like high revs and the tacho could be telling you this!

be honest now...has the instrument ever had a hard knock :?: or been dropped on a hard surface :?:

Could be the meter itself...nothing to do with the pulses feeding it :!:

no hard knocks ....i treat thoses gages like a gold nuget as they cost me a s...t load
will ask link automotive about the points....as they havent been changed for a long time...would say two years or so.

OK.....Change the points for some good NGKs and make sure you clean off the surfaces first with Metho...two years is quite long enough with conventional ignition...
