Fuel Hoses through boot floor

Post subject:  Fuel Hoses through boot floor
Just wondering if anyone here can recommend a simple and effective way to have to have my fuel hoses through the boot floor without passing the sharp steel edge?
I was thinking of cutting one large hole into the area and making a thick plate from aluminium and bolting it back inso with the extra face area the hose is less likely to be damaged?

Any do's or do nots?
I had one split on me a few years back where it went through the body, so needless to say I'm picky about doing a good job.

The hole is from memory flared is it not? This should provide a rounded edge.

However, you could always use a rubber grommet?

I have three hoses, only one hole is flared.
Rubber grommet sounds easy but hetting a large enough round hole in the spot where they are won't be easy.

Perhaps a large square grommet maybe?

Alternatively you could use that edge trim stuff thats used on door rubbers etc that the rubber is glued to if you know what im talking about and put that on the edge of whatever shape hole you have. Or if your cheap get a bit of rubber hose and cut it open lengthways.

Sparkies use Chassis Punches to create holes without leaving sharp edges, and they work over old holes, and in places where a drill won't get to. You put one half on one side, the other half on the other and tighten the nut. doesn't damage paint around it, no heat and no swarf.

The pinchweld might work actually, I already have a few spare metres of it as I put it behind my dash so the wiring doesn't catch any edges.

i do like the idea of a plate screwed in, but that would mean damaging the boot floor, i dont know how precious your car is. would make removal of the hoses easier, especially if you have to say take your tank out. for one hose its probably not an issue, but as you say you have three.

That would be ideal if it was three times bigger.
It only takes two 8mm tubes and one 6mm tube.
I have three hoses about 16mm each.

Might just have to go to the local hardware store and check the bathroom section.
Might find a plug I can modify.

Braided hoses and put a rubber sleeve over them, where they pass through the hole.

Once again maybe a sparky's item to the rescue? These are waterproof and cheap and available in sizes to clear all cables from 10mm to extremely large. Bunnings should have them in the electrical section, or drop into Middendorp Electrical, Ideal Electrical or L&H.
