My uni joints have play in them and are causing vibration I am looking at replacing them with QL5000. Is it possible to change them in the car without undoing ball joints and removing the hub etc. |

Is it a pain in the bum? How long does it usually take? Also, I think my drive shaft seals are leaking, is it possible to slide the shafts out and replace the seals at the same time? |

Back in the day it was not unknown for this to be a roadside job. Was easier if you could put one wheel up on the kerb to give a little more room for you to crawl under. Lesson one when installing QH joints (see above:) is to make sure the nuts are done to the correct torque (3/5 sq rt of b$%#er all) ...about 5 ftlb??? Cheers, Ian |

So, is it easy to do the drive shaft seals at the same time? |

If you had pot joints, yes. But as you have the drive yokes, the nut has to be undone to get them off first. And torqued up on reassembly. Beware of putting wood etc between the yoke and the case to undo the nuts- the casing on RH side is easily split. I made up a tool to hold the yoke- it's just a plate with 2 bolts, a big hole in the middle and a bit of pipe welded to it. |

OK, I've started this, I've done the drivers side no problem, but I am having real problems with the passenger side joint. The passenger side doesn't have a sliding joint (CV?) like the drivers side. Is there any trick to getting it off or do I need to remove the wheel and suspension then remove the drive shaft? |

The LH one slides the same as the RH one, maybe the spline is dry and sticking. Just undo the top balljoint and lean the hub out if you need to, to get more room. |
