Post subject:  mixing and matching diffs

so ive got a few 64t diffs here, 22G370 is the moke ones (got 2) and a 22A401 from a mini... is there any difference between the 2 besides the casting?
ie. would it be ok to use a 64t moke diff with a 17t pinion to establish a 3.76 ratio? (as the mini one is rather surface crusty-d up....)

Ta,
Matt

I'm pretty certain you can't mix-and-match like that. The 22G370 is for a 4.267 diff yeah? So it has a 15 tooth pinion with the 64 tooth crownwheel - so the tooth sizing will be selected to match the 15/64 combo, not 17/64.

Having said that 3.76 diffs are really common, should be easy to find one. Hell I think I have 3 or 4 lying around at home!

cheers

17T pinion fits with either a 3.647 (62T) or a 3.765 (64T) crownwheel.
You need the 22A401 crownwheel for a 3.765 ratio, the 22G370 one won't mesh with this pinion as Jacob said.
