Hey guys. I was changing my oil this morning and this small spring was on the sump plug. Its around 2cm in length. Any ideas about what it is and if its anything bad? Cheers Matt ![]() |

I think its the spring found inside one of the crank oil seals, they wind around inside the seals to improve sealing. Do you have any oil leaks... yes i know all minis leak oil but can you pin point a leak from the radiator end or clutch end, if not you may have one soon. Im sure someone else may know more than me tho |

Nope don't have any oil leaks or clutch judder, but recently i noticed that the clutch isn't as hard as before, i don't need as much force to push it down, and it engages much sooner in the pedal. Hope its nothing to major ![]() ![]() |

I heard there have been probs lately overseas with these clutch seals losing their springs on assembly. Wonder where they are made.... ![]() |

it could also be from the selector seal on a remote (two rods to gearchange box) although it looks too long. They always leak anyway. ![]() ![]() if its from the primary gear seal, wonder if the rest is in the seal or been ground up by the gears. only other place i can think of is the two seals on the diff side caps. |

If its the primary gear seal wouldn't oil be leaking from the split pin under the clutch housing? |
