Post subject:  What is it worth?

I've been considering selling one of my minis the past couple of days but have no idea what it could be worth so I thought I throw the question up here for CONSTRUCTIVE opinions. It's a 1976 Clubman sedan, white and in need of a couple of easy rust repairs (boot floor, lower rear panel, one A-panel, and very minor repair to the front apron panel), and paint. The car also comes with a rebuilt motor and gearbox and a full history of all three previous owners (Geelong car all it's life), original bill of sale (complete with typo) confirming the motor as original, service passport, and leaflet for the factory option radio. If it wasn't for the paperwork and motor valuing would be easy ($300-500) but I'm a bit out of touch with current values. Any ideas would be great.

got a photo. could be 3000 bux to 7000 bux to 9000 bux. bit hard to tell from a description. With body work needing to be done, its likely to be in the 3000-7000 range.

how mahy kms has the motor done, whats on the motor, or is it stock. paperwork and history is worth dollars tied to the car 1000-2000 bux alone. How much paperwork, receipt from the dealer, paperwork from the factory.

Whats the interior like, is it original, what condition.

is it a Mini, a Mini S, what wheels has it got on it, how new are the tyres.

How much rego has it got on it, if none are you providing a pink slip, some states require you to have one.

theres tooooo many factors. A few pics would help people here to give you a better idea.

I wouldn't pay more than 3000 for any leyland mini which requires a fair bit of panel repair and paint! and I wouldn't pay almost half as much again for paperwork! unless it's a GT of course!

my 68 deluxe which needs minimal rust removal, requires paint, comes with fresh 1275/disc brakes, all original paperwork, must be worth 15k! still only paid 3.5k a few years back though!

i have the paperwork from the dealer, and the paperwork from the factory that came from the dealer, full log books, the blue book, full receipt history and so on for my car, shannons reckon that it was worth over $1000 bux just for that alone. (And ive kept every receipt for all work ive had done in the last few years of owning it)

It all comes down to how detailed it is.

My car which has zero rust but a crap paint job, rebuilt motor less than 20,000kms etc was insured by them for $10K and its a clubbie.

You wouldnt pay, but in an open market people do pay for the history and peace of mind that they know exactly what they are getting.

I think mini max is closest to what I thought it is worth. It is just a standard clubman sedan, not S or GT. It is a restoration project depending on how carried away you get with it. The motor is out of the car, basically the mchanic who I brought it from rebuilt the motor (stock 998 as far as I know, the mechanic who did it is very good with english cars so it will be a quality job) with intention of putting the car back together and giving it a quick tidy up and using it. He sold it to me after he decided BSA bikes were more his thing. The interior is all there, the front seats are leather but have a small scuff mark, a good clean and it would look good. Here are the photos I have.
