I don't know why but I've lost the ID plate from my deluxe. It was there when I bought it but removed when the car was painted years ago, and not been seen since. I can still see the body and car numbers stamped into it, and I know the engine number it was last registered with and its original colour, but nothing else.

If I can't find the plate anywhere, what will I need to do to get the car registered?

Thanks.

You do not need an ID plate to register a car. It was only fitted to make life easier for the dealer. It is not a legal requirement.

So could I buy a new plate and stamp / engrave my own stuff into it like its body number, new engine number and new colour, or am I better just leaving it off?

Thanks Morris.
