On my way back from Wagga got talking to a guy who had "a few Minis in his shed" Drove over to his farm and his Father in Law showed me around, he was a real character and a nice bloke. He was a self confessed horder and all the sheds were full, and I mean FULL of stuff. Heaps of tractors (he collects them) Then down the back there were rows and rows of old cars and trucks. There was this Mini Hi top Van, Fibreglass roof... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Further down in a shed were 3 more Mini sedans, an orange 850 which you can just see to the right, (unfortunatly I missed getting a pic of that one, was having camera trouble). The Burgundy one (same colour as my car) was a Deluxe and I couldnt get close enough to the White one but I think it was an another 850. ![]() ![]() He said they are being kept for his Grandkids so not for sale, at least they look to be dry and out of the weather. I didn't ask but I got the feeling he wouldn't be selling anything, kept saying how people keep asking but he sounds like the kind of bloke that hangs on to everything (obviously!!) In a back paddock more cars, there was another mini which again unfortunately the camera must have not worked. But there were some really interesting cars, could have spent hours poking around. Heres some of the pics I took....enjoy! ![]() ![]() ![]() Renalt ![]() Hudson Terraplane, one of the fastest cars of it's day. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It's sad to see things like the Hudson just rotting away like that. |

There is one about 4 minutes down the road, full of series 1, 2, 2a, and 3 landrovers, austin a40's, a few buick tourers around the 1928-1930 vintage complete and just sitting there! I havent sneaked a peak in the 3 big sheds yet...... |

It was much like that here until reasonably recently. Farms with relic and ornaments rotting in paddocks. Then a local guy with a tilt tray truck, when the price of steel went up, went from farm to farm offering to buy the scrap metal and relics. It was still in the drought and tough times so many did sell their scrap and so many treaures went to the scrap metal dealer and to the crusher. To them is was just scrap metal. Mike |

Also what happens is eventually the guy dies. Then the family wants to sell the farm and calls in the scrap metal guy to clear it. The tricks is to get there before the scrap metal man. |

I swear that is the high roof van that used to sit down a gravel road out the back of Yellingbo in Victoria, even has the identical mould on the roof and Faint sign - writing on the back... |

I cannot stand idiots like this who just hold onto stuff and let it rot so no one else can make use of it. It is not a clever collection, it is just a mental condition....what a waste! Even the white 850 has a compressed roof. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
