Most are a 22G1128 casting.
There is another less common, 22G846.

Remote shift cases were used on:
Mini K
Mk2 Cooper S
1098 Clubby
Clubman GT
Mokes, pov pack Mini K & van (but with a puddin' stirrer adaptor)

Only the Mk2 Cooper S & Clubman GT got the closer S ratios.

As far as the cases went, there was only 1, fitted to the Mini K, Cooper S and Early Clubman.

Internals were also a similar story, being standard ratios and cooper S.

Diff ratios were 3.7 for the Mini and 3.44 for the cooper S, which also had different output shafts from the diff and different covers over the output shafts.

I think the casing had a casting no of 12G 1128 or 22G 1128...

Look above and in front of the drain plug boss- 3 synchro ones are flat there, a 4 synchro is curved.

You will probably find it's a 22A1288. 3 synchro, 850/998 box.
22G1288 don't exist, in my books.

GT m, the Mini K and 1098 Clubby (same 4 synchro box) ran a 3.647:1 diff, not 3.7.

Could be 22A1228 then.
3 synchro, used on Morris 1100S etc.

Sorry to burst your bubble Grant but a 22G68 is just 3 synchro- 850-997-998Cooper, remote or magic wand.

Thanks Doc,

was worried you would say that :?

is it the same case as a MK1 "S" as i have one i need to rebuild (looking for a laygear assembly) and the case has been welded at the drain plug and i could swap it all over.

Grant

I think you will find it's maybe too narrow across the top to swing a 1275 crank and rods.
Put a tape on it... and compare it with the S one.
You could grind it out there if needed. All the Mk1 S gears will fit in.

I put a 1275 on an early 850 case once. Major surgery was needed- don't go there.

I picked up a 22G846 today, looks good inside.
Are all these boxes 4 syncro, and is the diff ratio 3.64:1
