Post subject:  Water Leak around screen

When I drive in rain at speed (90-100 K) i get water leaking out from under the outer edge of screen rubber and also (I think) from just under the corner of the top dash rail.

I suspect it is being blown up into the top corner of the inside of the guard and then under the lower corner of the windscreen surround/scuttle panel.

I think it then works its way past the windscreen rubber and also under the top dash rail.

I haven't taken the dash card out yet to have a good look but what should I do to rectify this?

I don't want to go bogging things up in a way that might then trap water and cause rust.

I normally don't drive in the rain if I can help it but I would like to fix it if possible.

Cheers

You will regret it eventually if you keep the car long enough.

Yeah but I think its more than just around the screen. I can feel a draught of air under the top dash rail and right up in the corner. I think it was coming in there to.

Guess I'll have to take out the dash card and have a good look.

Could I try forcing some windscreen sealant (or whatever that black stuff is that never sets) under the rubber and into any openings I find?

Butyl mastic is the black windscreen sealer you want. If there are any holes I'd fix them with Sikaflex or Selleys All Clear, not Silastic. Common silastic is acid cured... :x
