Does one need to have the heat shields on twin carbs |

Car will run without a heat shield but they serve 2 purposes- 1. They shield the float bowls from exhaust heat, which helps stop fuel vaporization when stopped. 2. If the float bowl overflows due to a needle valve/seat problem, the fuel drips on to the heat shield and (hopefully) clear of the exhaust. |
