| Post subject: | strange brakes |
ok so i cant get my brakes up, i dont know why? can someone help me or have any ideas? i have bled bled and bled and still have no brakes! pedal still goes to the floor then i adjust the brakes still nothing, but all pistons are moving as in brake drums....... some one told me to go around and clamp one hose at a time and try the pedal. i do the passenger brake hose nothing changes, the 2 back brake hoses nothing changes, then i do the drivers side and i can get pedal whats this mean? any ideas are very much appreciated cause i cant drive my car safely with out my brakes and i miss my car and i need it as well. ok sry mate just wrote it and didnt read it over. The drums are new andare not leaking. The hose is the newest out of all of them and even if the wheel is adjusted so the wheel is really hard to turn its still no good. this is why i dont understsand. |

If yr front drums are twin leading shoe, they have two adjusters and each wheel. |

back off adjusters on that wheel, and open the bleed nipple without touching the brake pedal, let fluid run out and see if any air comes out. It's best to bleed front drums with them un-adjusted, so that the shoes push the pistons all the way in. The bleeder hole is in the centre vertically, so they can get a bubble at the top which can't be bled out. |

I had this problem earlier in the year. If your wheel cylinders aren't leaking, tighten all your shoes up and check the pedal. If it's still low, it's something further up. Clamp all the hoses, and check again. It's still low, it's the MC or bias valve. I bought some small bolts (M10 fine, I think), and blocked off the MC, and the pedal was firm. I then reattached the bias valve, bled it and checked that. Put the bolts in the bias valve, and the pedal dropped half way to the floor. Took the valve out, changed the seals, and now the brakes are better than they've ever been. |

mc has recently been reconditioned. the pedal only firms up when i clamp drivers hose off???? |

Check the following on that side: - Wheel cylinder - is it leaking? - Flex line - is it leaking? is it bulging when the pedal is pressed. - Bleed that side again - back of the adjustment, then bleed. or just let it gravity bleed. |
