Without modifications list seats that will suit a Mini K :-

With very little modification ( like installing a plate or something ) list seats :-

With major mods ( like welding bars ) list seats :-

Basically unless I have my seats relined.. I will have to purchase completely different seats. So wondering what my options are and on what level they are available at .. :D

Thanks

Manda

Good thing about mini seats is if you stay with mini seats they're usually straight forward. Anything 60s, and from and 80s onward import will fit into your car without modifications, even the leather seats from a 2000 model!

Clubby seats mount on top of the cross member, not infront so a plate with tapped holes would need to be welded on.

Otherwise, any seats from any other car could be modified to fit too, but you'd have to make adapter plates / rails.

I have sparco race seats in my car, and before that I had BMW X5 seats.
Other seats of choice from other people are things like mx5, wrx, or suzuki.

Any aftermarket race seat that suits the Cobra Mini Subframe will make install a piece of p*ss. Or even slight mods to the frame to make other seats fit is no big drama.

Hi Manda,

You saw my pic from the dashboard thread of the seats in my car? they are Cobra Classic seats. Very very comfy for your bum BUT they are finite width so if one were slightly portly you could go for the Cobra Cub seats which are not so deep in the bum area.

Both types of seats bolt straight onto your existing mounts on the car. In fact one could argue that any of the Cobra range will fit into a mini with no mods whatsoever but the high back seats will not allow you to get into the rear of the car unless you get split fold seats ($$$$)

Other options are Japanese mini seats. Here's a free set offered recently:

Ahh thanks guys. Here I was thinking that all of your seats were specifically made just for your cars. I was going mental heh.

That makes the selection so much wider.

I do want splits is it ? rather than lifting the entire seat up all the time as that usually causes mini noobs to drop the seats on the seat belts or where you plug in the seat belts.

Cobras look expensive though. Those jap ones look like a good medium kinda quality seat.. thats all I'm after .. something mid range, easy to install and looks good and comfy.

What about something like http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Subaru-Sti-Front-Rear-Seats-/260671655088?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cb13dccb0

Easy to install or hard?

Won't bolt in, but it's been done before nevertheless.

What you want is a seat that is pretty much 50cm wide. Always pays to get a measurement first before buying something.
Any wider and you'll start to run into clearance issues on the handbrake and door bins.

77 and 78 model Clubbie seat did bolt in from the top, but up til this time, the same as all that preceeded.

There's always Rover seats too, no mods, just wing nuts
