hey fellas,

yep.....almost lost my licence last night due to double demerits......

being on RED P plates u get a whopping 4 points to use (still have all 4!!!)

me AND KAZZY69 and a few others piled into the charade and went into sydney last night,
on the way out of syd, we went for a drive down through the rocks,

pulled over for a random breath test, and the copper noticed that the charade was missing a P plate....

he explained to me that i would loose my licence for not displaying it...4 points for a missing P plate  (double demerits)

he was a good copper and let me off with a warning!!! :D :D :D

(he said it was tempting to give me a ticket though!!!
:( )

blake :P

Thats total BS!!! lucky he was an alright copper. here they dont really car about the plates i dont think, but i think its one point for each plate you dont have?

this country needs to regulate its road rules so they are the same nation-wide. all this green-P and red-P...we dont ahve any of that, it should all be the same. and i think having a BAC limit of ).)@ would be a good idea, simply to cover you driving home the morning after. not endorsing drink driving though...bad idea!

Well over here in SA its instant loss of licence for 6/12 months.
Its a breach of Provisional Permit terms.

Its the same as not carrying your Provisional Permit card with you when driving.

HA! Here in WA, you get fined $50 for each P-Plate you don't have up (if you need to have them up, that is, and if you get a nasty cop) and I don't think you lose points for it. Also, while we are on our P-plates, we have the full 12 points to use.

We have two phases of L-Plates in WA - you sit the 25 question exam to get your Learner Stage 1, practice, have a driving test. If you pass that driving test, you then have your Learner Stage 2, and you have to complete 25 hours (could be more now?) of supervised driving with someone who has had their licence for 4 years or more. After you complete the log book, you sit a Hazard Perception Test (on computer) and if you pass it, you get your P's. You have your P's for 2 years.

Pain in the ass, but I suppose it's better in the end, as far as giving people more experience before driving by themselves.

0.00 BAC whilst on L's, 0.02 BAC whilst on P's, 0.05 after.

faaaaaaaarrrrkkk....SA thats tuff....but u guys get off easy with rego renewals (just keep ur car looking like its roadworthy and u dont have a prob!)

well in syd we do get a fine...$70 for not displaying the P plate...ask Kazzy69 she will tell u!!!

wel in nsw....we have the L's test...then u must do 50 hours minimum road driving with a fully licencensed driver (not p platers!)

then u have to do a miniimum of 12 months on your red P plates

then do a minimum of 24 months on your Green P plates!!!...

ive been on my red P plates for 3 years now....just too expensive to go for your GREENS...$100....my reds expire again in bout 1 month...only $15 to renew!,

blake :(

In VIC...

they dont even need to see your car to re-rego it, they send you the sticker in the mail and its not valid till you pay it.

Re: licencing. L-Plates min age is 16, P-plates min age is 18, but you have to have had your L's for at least 6 months. you dont have to do a minimum of driving hours, although they reccomend 120. they say this equates to 1 hour a week over 2 years (close enough) but thats assuming you get your L's at 16, and P's at 18.

Only one kind of P plate, and duration is 3 years, after which you renew it and its a full licence. learner permit valid for 10 years without renewal

That cop was pulling your chain...! You wouldnt loose you licence for not
having one P plate on your car, double demerit points are only for speeding
and seat belts, everything else you loose the same amount of points plus 1.
So that would only be 2 points gone if he decided to book ya...

well actually he could have chopped up my licence as i only had one p plate on the front and it was a green p plate not a RED p plate so he could have done me.....

so us P platers do get it tuff sometimes for very small reasons.....

but some p platers are just plain stupid and do deserver to loose thier licence!!!,

like some of the guys in my tafe class.....tryingto go as fast a possible within the school zone 40 speed limit areas!!! some of them in their skylines reach over 100 in the space of a school 4 zone!!!...dickheads!!!

blake :?
