I have a Fusion stereo in the garage (was planning to fit it to the boat but never got round to it).

It has a remote head + 2 x 6" speakers + 2 x 7" speakers + power unit.

What solutions have people come up with for fitting speakers on a moke?

Ideally I'd fit two in front (somewhere ) and two in the back (somewhere ). I'm not too keen on cutting holes in the panels so I'll probably have to build mounting boxes (was thinking about using marine plastic board).

Any photos to give me some ideas?

I don't think you mount them in the moke, more like on the moke somewhere.
Just put them all in a removable box behind the driver. That's the easiest thing.

My first moke had speakers in small boxes in the shape of cubes cut diagonally in 1/2. These were mounted beneath the dash so the speakers faced down at 45 degrees. Very unobtrusive but the speakers were smaller than you are talking about.

What make you think that you will be able to hear anything over the wind noise?

They're only for entertaining those around you at traffic lights!

I've got 4" three-ways in my custom dash and they are quite okay at 100km/h with the top down.

Probably the easiest is to make some sort of a box for each speaker. There are lots of ideas on the Moke forum.

Install near all the other useful items for Mokes - the ashtray and heater.

Don't forget the Japanese mokes had air conditioning, another useful function.

(I guess mainly because when you turn the AC off it's like a turbo button!)

Try a decent pair of headphones ! You will not need to drill any holes for them. I hope !

A bit more work than your possibly considering but some of the Mazda MX5 seats have speakers in the headrest - perfect for a moke!

I cant remember who's moke it is, but they have used those pod things that you see in boats (like big eggs) to mount speakers in their moke. Top class if you ask me. They mount on the roll cage.

I have seen other installs including speakers in a box behind the back seat, the back seat removed with the WHOLE back filled with speakers (kind of like how they fill the ute section of a ute with speakers), two speakers in the parcel shelf bit of the dash, a half octagon shaped speaker box behind the gear stick under the dash with a couple of speakers mounted there and then one of the other ideas i like a little bit but not sure how effective they are and not sure if you wanted to cut into the body of your moke, but i have seen a moke that has those directional pods for speakers on the flat top part of the sides with speakers aimed at the driver.

I know you have your own speakers, btu i have also seen a moke with the MX5 seats which have the speakers built into the head rest which i thought was pretty clever too.

Cutting into the body for speakers in the side pods is not a good idea. The box section which provides much of the strength is severely weakened by doing this.

MX5 seats do look good and work well in a Moke. But I found they sat a little too high for my liking.
