Does anyone have experience with the MINI SPORT UK gearbox rebuild kit or Gearbox Bearings.

Also what is the thickness of the large laygear thrust washer when new?

No idea but I have bought the Minispares full rebuild kit including diff planet gears and pin and have had no problems with it.

I've also used the Minispares one and had no problems - had to buy extras though like springs and you need to assemble the laygear and measure the gap to get the right size washer. There were some other bits needed in the rebuild not in the kits as well

I used the minisport kit in the link. I was after Minispares, but they were out of stock of one or two components at the time.

No dramas however, the laygear thrust was slightly undersize for what I wanted (it was exactly stock from memory however, whatever that is), so fixed that up. Baulk rings took a few thousand to bed in, and had to seperately pick up the synchro detent balls and springs.

u always have problems no matter what company it is, i bought some things from mini sport including a metro turbo box with a close ratio guts in it, i only had 1 issue with all my stuff, i bought a door handle kit as they said it would fit my mk2 cooper doors, they didnt fit so i returned them. you would think by now someone over there would know what is the same and what isnt any good for aussie cars.

There are a great MANY very good suppliers both locally and O/S. I can understand you desire to save money, but factor in the possible headaches (short supply, parcel gets lost, goods damaged in transit, warrenty claims etc etc) and then maybe some of the stuff from O/S is not so cheap?

I do also like to promote our local suppliers, I feel it important that get some business to keep their doors open, open for when you need it NOW or for that over the counter advice etc....
