Well Ive had this annoying rattle in Viv for the past few days and could not work out what the hell it was (comming from radiator side). So I just kkept using the car thinking it was no biggy

UNTIL
on my way to Wolongong this morn and as i was just on the M5, I heared a snapping/whiping noise come at me from the engine bay. Looked at the guages and ALT was on nice and strong. Pulled over quick smart and found.....

S**T
where 1100's and 1275's have harmonic balancers, 998's have tose thin metal excuses, and well mine had shat itself and shredded....so glad i joined the NRMA three weeks ago so she got a free tow home......

BTW while I was waiting, who should come past, but Josh!! (MiniMad)!!! he very nicely waited while my mate came to pick me up, but WOW what a coincidence!!! Thanks mate

I'm no advocate for the NRMA but you can pay extra for NRMA Plus which entitles you to a rental car and towing etc etc ...ya gets what ya pay for...

Sure, put a balancer on. 998 Cooper had them anyhow.
Tin pulleys are a bit pissweak, easy to fatigue them with old age.
