Hey i had a quick look but couldnt see anything. Ive just installed a oil pressure gauge and im wondering what a decent oil pressure would be in my 1100cc? Thanks Blake |

Cold it could reach 100 psi, but anything over 60 would be quite good. Hot over 25 psi but closer to 40 would be happier. |

ok cool thanks do it reading about 70 when i first turned the car on is ok? Also whats the lowest the oil pressure can get before it starts to be dangerous? |

A fresh motor should have 60psi hot @ 2500rpm and up, unless it's a Cooper or S- they run about 70psi when new. Once an engine gets down to 40psi max when hot it needs new bearings and/or a new pump, in my experience. Hot idle, down to 15psi is OK, it's not too bad yet. |

70 sounds good. The relief valve should be set somewhere around there anyway. Hot at idle, I would want to see no less than 15 but would be happier with 20. On drive, hot, no less than 30. |

70 is perfect when she starts to get low pressure (below 25ish) top the oil up or change the oil & filter. if it doesn't rise its more investigation |
