I knew i had pics of it somewhere, its the only Metallic nutmeg one ive ever seen-

This is when she first got it , same time she got her license-

And this is it 2 WEEKS later, seems her brother told her to go faster around corners and she did with bad results-

Image

And from the side, poor thing-

Image

It was eventually fixed but was killed again by her ex who liked to get it airborne on footpaths, i fixed it up and kept it going for a few more years but it eventually cracked the block between 2 and 3 so it was parked till the boot floor fell out.
The SS was put in the trading post and sold for $200 to a pair of old farts who cut it up for a golf buggy in Marysville Vic.
All i have left is the rego plates, rad supp panel and the SS id plate

Rather sad demise for a rare Mini, i wonder if its still golf buggying :?:

Is a sad site. There is a lady in town here who apparently has a nutmeg SS.

She said she does and wil not sell it, gunna fix it up. I havnt seen it. but so she says it is a SS and i thought it was blue one but she said "nahh its brown."

Might get to have a look one day

That's a bummer!

I see that it has the original wheels  , same as every other SS that left the factory.

Don't forger the special SS mirror head and wiper arm opera houses.

All standard just as it left the factory and never been modified.

*sigh* that SS reminds me of my old 1275LS. Same foglights too.

Burnt to a crisp in tassie years later as far as I can tell.

Fourth last too. Bugger.

I reckon style-wise the Aussie SS and LS's really were the nicest looking Clubman shaped Minis built anywhere in the world.

Saw this one at my cousins funeral. Old lady owner, will never part with it as it was her now departed daughters. Really well kept though.

There was a Nutmeg one here in Leopold. The guy who owned it swore he would never sell it, but one day I rang him to go and have another look and take some photos of it - for the feature I was doing on the SS back in Issue 15 - and he said he had sold it years earlier

Oh well.

Watto

yep std Factory fitted "SS" rim (std mini off-set)

The "LS" rims were the more Inset ones ("S" off-set)

ROH also made "Non-Leyland-Factory" mags in std mini off-set but they had a slightly different diameter/shape center hole with a different ridge/lip & the center cap was also different to suit that "Non-factory" rim

edit--> so ,,, if anyone wants to get picky about the actual correct identity of the "std-mini-offset" factory fitted mag,,, then the answer lays in the center hole

OK????

crickey!!! do i have to solve all the murders around here ??? :-) :-) :-)

2nd edit--> Oh & the spot lights in the grille were std issue "OR" optional for the SS

But were not std issue however they were an "Option" for the LS

My SS was metallic nutmeg too. As Matt says, the wheels are correct and even have the proper leyland centre caps. The Marchal driving lights seemed prone to damage and I saw a few that were broken or replaced (mine were stuffed when i bought it).

To sow you how much of an optimist I am, I bought a NOS set of stripes a few months back, just in case I come across another SS.
