Hey,

I pulled my fuel tank out to install my new suspension and to paint the boot and the fuel tank.
I'm strugglibg to get the tank back in. I can't seem to get to the strap bolt that gos into the floor
Is there any trick to getting it all back together properly?

Sorry if this is all over the place I'm posting this from my phone

Thanks blake

If it's the (yuky) 2 piece affair, trying oulling the two ends together first with some multigrips, while your doing that, have someone else bang on the back of the tank to get it seated in, then if you can, put the pinch set screw (bolt) in (these are usually 2" long).

If it's the one piece job ( :D ), bang on the back of the tank with your hand to seat it, then put the set screw in, sometimes these are a little tricky to get started, but if you bend the end of the strap a bit, that should help line it up.

Also, a lick of rubber grease on the fille neck helps too.......

I had to use a tyre lever to get if forward enough -then underneath to lift it to push the filler neck further out - put the grommet in the filler neck hole first - don't ask how I know this is better

I could not get the bolt started for ages so I wire brushed and cleaned the thread with a thread file - used a pair of multi grips to hold the ends of the straps together and started the bolt with finger tips before getting the socket in there to do it up proper.
