Post subject: | 1-1/2"SU flat spot question |
Hi All, I recently upgraded to 1 1/2" SU with a ramflo filter and extractors. Now, When I turn a left hand corner I have a miss or a flat spot for a few seconds then it picks up and all is good. Carb is HS4 with AAM needle, Engine is 1100 with 731 cam (it had an ABX needle but it had a poor response). The response is very good through the rev range and turning right, speeding up and slowing down but when turning left it wants to stall. Any ideas appreciated. |

check your float level - I forget which side the bowl is on, but it may be a bit too low so you're losing it when cornering, or too high and it's flooding when cornering... one of the two ![]() |

![]() Take the bell top of the carb and look in to the jet, the fuel level should be about 2 mm down from the top. Check fuel pressure and that the jet isn't blocked too...... And then reset your mixture adjustment...... |

cool - thanks guys. The bowl is on the drivers side for memory - i will check the float. The needle is brand new and it has a brand new fuel filter so i'm guessing the jet isn't blocked. When running with the 1-1/4"SU it was OK so i would have thought the pressure is OK but I will check anyway. Thanks for the tips ![]() failing this - i will need to find a road with only right hand corners!! |
