im trying to remove the upper control arms to get the cones out.

i cant get the rod bolt out plus the clutch and stuff is kinda in the way.

is there a trick at all?

i have the nuts undone.

i just want to pull the cones out but i don't have a cone compressor.

have you removed the two 7/16th unf bolts that hold on the front oval plate? The two big nuts are not enough. One of the small bolts (inside one) has a captive nut welded to the frame, the other has not.

ah yes.

i never spotted the back welded nut.

what is the best way to undo that ? looks tight?

the small bolts just undo easy,,, you don`t have to take the inside (captive-welded) nut off,,, just undo the 2x little 1/4-unf bolts & the one big rear 3/4 nut, pull the pin forwards & cock-it a little (away from the brake switch connection etc & then pull the arm out

ill give that a crack tomorrow.

I have found some things are a bit tight after the car got flooded

so Im slowly cleaning bits and trying to free them up as i go.

a scissor jack can help by winding it up under the control arm. You might need to scissor jacks to get a new cone back in, theres a bit of a trick to it.

One jack to lift the arm up to the right height and another to push against the guard to line it up so you can get the pin through and the cap and bolts back on the end.
