Thanks for that Drmini,

it's just that mine is a 9AN/A/H/### ON THE ID PLATE WHICH IS AUTOMATIC ACCORDING TO hotbricks website and it also has the long accelerator pedal but the body number is YMA2S2 which is a deluxe body? or is this just another BMC mystery?

P.S. does anybody know if you can buy new rubber pads for the matic accelerator pedal?

Mine is a late car (1970), yes the engine # you have is auto too.
I now have a Morris 1300 auto block in my car, (converted to manual) it is a 12YE/A/H****
re the body number mine is YA2S5****, the one I sold to 13secmini also was a YA2S5.
Only difference on my shell to a Mini K is the gearshift hole in floor- `matics used the 850 magic wand hole and gearshift boot.
I think Duc has an early `matic, maybe he can check his body # for you. 8)

re the accelerator pedal pad, I got a new one years ago from Padstow Pirates, so I'd ask them.

Harles
my body number is
YMA2S4 ****
engine
99H119H ****

not sure what your talking about regarding the long/short accelerator pedal
www.angelfire.com/mech/ducho
and you should be able to find some pictures of my acc pedal (probably under resto pics)

Matic engines were assembled in the UK and used Aussi bodies

They were built for the wuss in us all that cant be bothered with gears.

Matics were funny beasts..
They use a longer pedal pad on the accelerator- (1-1/2 postage stamps high instead of 1), and the brake pedal was thicker, like an S, but not as high off the floor....
When I converted mine to manual I used a Clubbie clutch pedal, and cut the diamond shaped pad down to `real Mini' size..

thats interesting...
i guess with no engine braking (well i guess you could engine brake if you wanted)
the brake pedals would need to be bigger
not sure about that acc pedal though
interesting Doc...

I don't have a rubber pad on the accel pedal any more. I don't think it is legally required, and now the 35 year old rust is wearing off it nicely.

I had one of those, but combined with the low brake pedal, we kept getting GO! when we wanted WHOA!
So I sold it to a dude in Qld.. 8)
