I have done the conversion took me a full day to do it all, cleaning parts grease up everything replace worn rubbers & boots.

still a 1 hour of setting ride heights correctly & all level it's not sitting right yet.

but what I can tell you is fiddle sticks ME awesome!

I have not given it a good hard fast drive around corners, when I do ill let you know how it still drives & feels and the correct heights etc.

but right now cruising Is amazing!!!!! the ride is just so good close to
modern feel but with a mini type ride & handling.

ill never go back to cones again.

highly recommended.

tips **
make sure you buy the full kit ( i bought Fast Road) with there own height adjusters- hi-lows, they are made for the kit, i would not use you're old ones & get new knuckle Joints.

i would use lots of WD40 or INOX
grease everything & the high low threads so it does not freeze up.
Buy new Knuckle joints the old ones will be shot. you need 4
get some LMM grease & clean & re grease.

happy days.

i have spax adjustables the old skool yellow ones. works well with my set up, if i got the recommended 36 point adjustable shocks im sure it would be better but i feel mine is fine.

I have them set to the softest it can be it's to soft at the moment for my taste
bit driving miss daisy.

the mini tastic kit is unreal, i bought the Fast road Springs, Middle.

they do
town ride
fast road
Race

they are perfect! i would not go any harder softer for everyday drive.

unless i drove a auto mini that i putted around in then i would get the town ride springs. :D i think MiniDna has this set up haha. i bet you love it?

I never took any photo's but ill get some tomorrow when i re-adjust the height.

have been looking at the minitastic kit tonight. the fast road ones as you mentioned are the ones i am looking at also.

be good to hear how you feel with them in a week of so. how do you find the ride height? do you have to run a high or standard ride height so they dont fall out at the rear?

i have heard you need to keep the hi low under tension when the car is off the ground so as not to let the spring fall out, this means you cant run a low ride height. not that a low ride height is a priority for me but i dont want a car that looks like a grass hopper either

Yosuke i think he name is on holidays in japan

so you will deal with his japanese wife bad SLOW english lol.

she is lovely but it is painfull ordering.

BE CLEAR & SLOW WITH EVERYTHING LOL.

you can run a lower ride height & if you jack the car up they don' fall out.

if you jack the wheel up it self really high like im talking compressing the crap out of it you can move them about.

it's a myth the hole them failing out under normal circumstances it's hard to explain really with out putting them in & understanding how it works.

iI doubt you will have a problem.

put it this way, I had to jack the car up about 4 or 5 times to get the wheels on & off, sometimes both at the same time jacked up high to get the ride hight close & they never dropped out once & stayed under compression the hole time.

ge the fast road kit & get new joints & replace any rubbers while you are at it.

but the lower you run the less compression it has.

i have mine a bit under standard height works fine but i set my shocks to soft so it's a bit of a joke how smooth it is really.

not use to it lol 8)

QUTOE FROM YOSUKE

Regarding the dis-lodging It will not happen if you would set the car not too low with putting shorter rear damper which restrict the fall of trailing arm. If you would go very low like track car you would need to put helper spring or insert a small spring into the center hole of the height adjust nut. It will not happen if you would fit them with CSTR644 and set in the reasonable height- 1inch clearance at the front wheel arch from the tyre top.

they are good mate.

just make sure you don't have it too low.

the springs give more travel & i had mine low for looks lol.

I drove to toowomba & i lost my guard as i hit massive pot holes avoiding a truck! i had my suspension set to the softest and mega low.

the pot HOLES not HOLE.. HOLES i hit was amazing i think about the 8th one it flung in the air lol.

it's with the gods now lol :(

other then that still amazing.

my problem is my wheel scrubs so if you don;t have this problem you will be sweet, i need to sort this out.

i gave it a fang hard tonight with the height set up better rock solid around round about's you will be happy.

ps to toowoomba roads are so bad.. **Warrego Highway** wtf!

:)

Hi,
jester99 you will love it. It is one of the best mod you can do to a Mini.
About the springs coming out; as it mentioned before not true at all.
I lowered the car to a degree that rear tyres scrub the wheel arches on extreme cornering (mind you I have rear sway bar too) yet no spring falling out.
Before I put it on I did mesured the springs against to rubbers and springs are slightly longer. Now how could it fall out if it is longer?
Anyways it is great to drive nice and smoot and great handling for fast cornering.
Good luck with your conversion.

you guys have got me interested in these now,

why would you go for their adjusters as opposed to the hi-los i already have on my car ?

whats the handling like ? ( i like my car very stiff ) one says its bouncy over potholes and one says its stif as stiff around round abouts.. :S

This is what people fitting these kits are generally trying to get away from, too stiff.

Sounds like the rubber cones are just what you want :D

the adjusters they sell for/with the spring kits are designed to suit the coil springs. i have read that the measurements and diameter are different between hilows for rubber cones and hilows for coil springs. so i assume if you convert to coil springs, you would convert to the correct hilows to suit them.

there are hard kits available if hard is what your after. like Panthersteve just stated though, the majority of people doing this conversion is to try and improve the ride of mini's in general. making them softer to soak up bad roads better than the rubber cones can.

i will be posting a full install thread in my gallery when i receive this kit next week, and will give heaps of feedback on it and show photographs of why the springs cannot fall out when installed correctly.
