Gday guys, this is sorta a poll.

What are your opinions on all the other non a series motors out there for the mini. eg: toyota, honda motors. I would like to know what you would think is the best in value, bang for buck etc... pretty much an overview on each different motor, in the mini.

sorry if there has already been a thread dedicated to this topic, i couldn't find it!

many thanks, josh

Well i think if you want bang for buck and dont want to do any work then you cant go past this mini.... Its in the uk, un modified body work, 2 litre motor with quad throttle bodies.......And to get it over here and regoed i think you will still come out under 14 grand

If you're not nostalgic or capable of building a quick mini motor yourself do a conversion.

When the conversion is done, it'll owe you say $4k (exagerated). From that point you have: more powerful engine (that won't leak oil), better gearbox (won't leak oil), more diff ratio options, cheaper running costs, fool injection, at worst 5 speed g/box(that won't leak oil).......and the clincher..... it is much less likely to leak oil.

type r vtecs have been done many times in roundies but all have the front lengthened at least 90mm... g13b suzuki 1.3L is the go for a roundie in aust, but that opel motor one i posted could be another choice as we got them motors in our calibra's here.

Both the calibra owners I know have major dramas with their engines. Both are poor/dismal/wont idle, both leak oil, etc etc....

I believe most of the problems are due to the electronics. Turf the injection and go webers I say.

*edit - JUST found out also that the Calibra motor/gearbox is LARGER than the VTEC equivalent.

Hah Hah.

Guess why the Calibra motor is crap? Becuase they were made by HOLDEN here and sent to the UK and Germany for fitting to Calibras. They are the smelly old Camira donk with a 16v head bolted on. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Go the G13B I reckon. But I'd still like to measure the 4cyl 1000cc March Super-Turbo engine - factory supercharged and turboed. If it will fit, it should have plenyty of power potential left. :D
