Baby shampoo well watered down, most sign/ sticker dudes swear by it.
Ive used the above to put on some huge stickers and the shampoo seems to make it much more "slidey" then as everyone else said grab the credit card

Has anyone got a foolproof method for putting bonnet stripe stickers on? i'm assuming it'll involve some kind of spray, a towel, and a credit card... what spray? water, detergent, windex etc? any help appreciated. cheers |

Hi, do not be affraid of using lots of water. If you use little bit; hard to move it around and can ruin the sticker. If you use a lot; very easy to move it but takes longer to dry properly( which is no problem) Good luck with that I am sure you`ll do a great job. |

so plain water? or a soapy mix? as i think about this... and i know there's plenty of cars out there for decades with stickers..... if you apply with water, and then the water dries out of there.... what stops water getting back under and creating damp spots on the metal, potentially rusting out the panel quicker? i'm still going to put them on, just started thinking about it a bit too much i think |

Look in the phone book for a sign suppler....... Here in Adeliade there is Q1 media, and go and buy a product called vinyl lube just a small bottle, and a felt tip Squeegee. It should be smooth sailing from there... If you need anymore help PM me. |

The method used depends on the type vinyl that is to be applied. So go safe and in an atomiser bottle place about 6 drops of detergent then fill with water. Spray some onto your fingers and you should be able to feel the slight lubricant affect of the detergent. You need just enough to allow the water to not bead that's all. when you try to apply the stripes to the bonnet you wil curse and swear as these will not want to sit in the position that you want them to unless they have been cut to allow for the compound curve of the roundie. The water will dry out and believe it or not vinyl is porus so small bubbles will disapate as days pass and the adhesive takes a better hold. You can also use a hair drier to help form the vinyl to shape however this will dry your water and it will more than likely end up with heaps more bubbles. For anyone considering this try and get Ezy Apply vinyl as no water is needed and the bubbles will just rub out. Either Avery or 3M brand. It also conform well to curved surfaces. I put up stickers so big that 2 would cover a mini, and water under them destroys the glue so i only get one shot cos they go on dry. Go with Aussie Brian's tips, no sticker person in their right mind would give bad advice
