hey guys i just bought a new exhaust system for my 62 morris with 1100 engine without doing enough research.

i bought extractors, muffler, and conecting pipe and all mounting accessories but i forgot to research about the inlet manifold.

i assumed the standard exhaust manifold and inlet manifold were 2 seperate pieces but i was wrong. it's a single cast piece.

what inlet manifold do i need to buy to fit my 1 1/2 su and the rest of the exhaust i bought?

any links to ones compatible or part numbers would be of great help.

thanks in advance,
josh

you can just cut the exhaust off the inlet.... but it won't clear all extractors

these are popular: http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-par ... C3000.html

no need to connect the water heating - it's the shape that gives them good performance, not the water heating

Hi josh_atkins91, yes that is the one. I used one myself recently with the same carb on my 1100 engine. fits well. 8)

keep in mind you may need to do some filing of the flanges. the thicknes of the extractors versus the intake manifold often if different. you will need to file them down to match or used stepped washers so they bolt up square. its pretty easy just time consuming

here is a pic of mine recently, you can see if the flange thickness is different you can have sealing issues. as i said though its an easy fix. i used my bench grinder to take some metal off the sides aswell as they need some minor adjustment there to.

good luck.

just one other question.
where do you connect the throttle cable return spring?
as my current one is hooked onto the clamp on the old manifold.
i can't really see from that photo.

There is a plate between the carby and manifold. The spring is hooked to the bottom of this plate, notice the thing in the red circle...

Yeah the stock rubbers are better- last heaps longer and don't transmit vibes to the body.

 actually those red engine steady rubbers are mine

they have been in for 12 months since i bought the car, and were about a year old when i bought the car. so they are around 2 years old, and are still in good condition. but i will take your advice and replace them if they are usually crap. thanks.
