Or purchased one recently and can recomend one? Doesnt need to be original, just ended up with a big list of lucas part numbers once i started doing research!

Just go and get a 12volt universal one.

There really isn't anything to them, so you cant go wrong.
If I recall there are 3 pin ones, ignition, battery and starter.
And 4 pin ones ignition, batter, starter and distributor, for if you have an electronic dizzy.

Whats the idea behind the 4 pin jobbies for elec ignition? is that so it gets en uninterupted feed of 12V?

The Leyland P/N for the later (Clubbie) type was 62933009 which also looks like a Lucas P/N. I have bought this solenoid in recent times upder P/N 13H5952L/3, these come in a Lucas box. Bought a lot of these and had no trouble with any of them.

Early style ones with the pushbutton on them are also available under P/N BCA4501/3 but I haven't bought one so I don't know what they are like.

I like their price, and I like their availability, but they the contacts don't seem to be very high quality in them unfortunately.

One from supercheap I wouldn't expect to last, but stick with a brand name like bosch etc and you should be fine.

this is true as i dont have my car registered so it only gets started every now and again
