pretty obvious phatty... valve stem breakage, head of valve pops off & smashes everything inside the cyl, puts hole in piston,,, lots of smoke & no compression,,, remove cyl head & photos show results

That would have been noisy ! And it would have been spitting oil out of every orifice too. Did you try revving it to make the noise go away.... WRONG....

I'd made a wrong turn, so did a U turn and had just dropped it into 4th gear when it let go. It sucks because I was on my way to an event, not even competing!

I expected something to break soon, but not this... and it's my good Cooper S head too I didn't want to use it, but the one I'd planned to use wasn't ready



the seat insert would have let go first, jammed the valve down, then the piston smashed into it which broke it off and then it just rattled around a bit. The seat is nowhere to be seen, must have been squashed and gone down the exhaust



didn't make a lot of noise, just a bit of a pop and the engine died... no smoke, no rattling - very unexciting



not really, there are little dings in it, the spots you can see in the 3rd photo. It should bore OK to the next size up (+.060")



yeah, sh!t happens... I just need a Corolla or something to run around in so I don't have to drive my mini so much

Minis are made to be driven (and then repaired).
Can hardly wait until mine is back on the road again.
