Ive got a fairly docile 1275 (Moke block + Pollution Head no mods as yet), I'm planing fairly spirited cam in the future and its got a very good set of extractors bolted to the engine atm with a very free flowing 1"3/4 exhaust with a hotdog. I'm going to be using the car for hill climbs, track days, motorkhanas etc. NOT A DAILY DRIVER!

Below are my choices, at this stage im only really keen on running one of the webers.

1) dodgey hell short manifold
2) 40 Dello decent breathing manifold
3) 45 Dello swan type manifold
4) 40 DCOE Weber really ugly looking manifold
5) 45 DCOE with a brand spanker warneford 3047 manifold

All carbs will need linkage kit, softmounts and seal/gasket kits.

What jets/chokes tubes should i start with?

I'm obviously going to have to make a new box, but even then its gunna be a bastard to tune and swap bits in the weber isnt it? What manifold? im guessing the 3047 but its going to be a nightmare to organise accelerator cable and all the guff wont it?

All opinions accepted, all help greatly appreciated!

Don't do anything until you have spoken to GR. You'll possibly find your existing set up will produce as much power as a weber conversion.

nah, not with the 1 1/2" on there, but a 1 3/4" can go as well as a weber.... I've been reading Des Hammil's book and it's very interesting

though if you have 5 webers sitting there doing nothing... sell them! :D

I found little to no improvement from the 1 3/4" SU to 45mm Weber change. It revs harder with the Weber but you couldn't beat the torque and street drivability of the SU.

The dyno results showed max power was pretty much the same at 63HP (47kW).

For all the money i spent, i was a little disappointed. :?

Sounds wicked though, and at least i didn't lose power.

Cam, go for No 5. especially if its a club car, not your regualr drive. The main reason some of those goose neck manifolds were made was to alleviate the need to chop an air box in the firewall. In the early 80s one of the quickest mokes ever ran the same and was unbeatable. A few bob spent selecting jets etc. on a dyno will be well worth it too.

I would go for #2 as it might fit in your current box and you will get better midrange torque with the 40DCOE over the 45. This is important in a hillclimb or khana car.

Stick with the SU on GR's manifold. It makes more torque and I would conver to this but couldn't be bothered.

Looks like you can actually fit Option 5 so go with option 5, ramtubes and socks.

we have a 40mm weber on our moke which we use for khanas and autocrosses and it goes well picks up very quick, when we had the 45mm DCOE on it it was alot more sluggish in the low revs even after we tinkered with jets and ramflos. go with the 40 DCOE

For khana's keep the manifold & put a HIF44 on, heaps better the a weber for khanas, easier to feed the power in, none of the weber splutters.

You don't get splutters with a properly sized & jetted Weber.
Bigger is not always best, except if you are only looking at peak power.
Go the 40DCOE for best trottle response & torque.
