Just remember, if theres any dodgy parts on it (like maybe waited a few days before painting a sill, or didnt waxoyl the sills) itll need work to get it legal. Especially if its used as a daily drive.

My guess from relating to turbo minis ive seen on forums, maybe 4000 pounds. Best bet would be to trawl the classifieds and ask a lot of questions.

Whats the G.O. these days with importing modded cars though..? I know its pretty much put a halt to modded muscle cars being brought in from the US.

Oh yeah, I cant believe a car like that with a bit more go then an A Series would be running those crappy Yoko A539's....

Semi related bit of information here: at our nationals a few weeks back 2 VTEC cars ran in the speed events, one 1600cc the other I'm not too sure about. Both were soundly beaten in both the motokhana and sprint events (lap of Manfeild track) by several of the A series powered road going cars. 8)

Heh...quite possibly! Jokes aside though I really did expect them to walk over the A series guys in the sprint - track has a couple of straights 3-400m long, I would have thought that would make up for any lack of talent.

So many variables with the car and driver combo.
IMO Mini with a VTEC in it is an ultimate machine;
Great classic body with a modern technology engine in it. This is really big in USA with the muscle cars.
I know lots of people say you can get similar power out of a A+ but that engine will be running on its limit and how reliable on the long run is big ?
On the other hand Mini with a VTEC or similar type will be running as a standard engine.
Not to mention that amount of thinking, labour and engineering that goes in to that. it is impossible not to appreciate.

The main hurdle you'll face is the engineering / compliancing side. Our rules are much more stringent.

If its done well, most should be ok. The main thing with UK V TEC conversions is they tend to increase the wheel track excessively. In OZ, about 25mm larger than standard is the limit you can increease wheel track.

If it is already more than this you are up for a heap of re engineering, possibly new subframe - this would make it unviable IMO.

"4AGE cooper" (I think) imported his unfinnished conversion over from UK and ran into these issues, but just managed to get it passed. Might be worth a PM. :wink:

that's what I ws thinking - there could be some very wierd rules about importing a finished car... or it could be really easy

He got his rego'd before bringing it over, and ran it past the licensing dept. here in WA first. If it hadn't been licensed in the UK prior, he would not have been allowed the increase in track width.
