is anyone running one? what did you think of them in regards to cooling. |

Not better than a good clean Oz 3 core one. And the UK Cooper cheapo 3 core is rubbish- not enough fins in the core. |

this is the story. i have a old smoker rad 3 core cleaned it out at the rad shop. it run in at just about 1/4 on the heat gauge awesome! gave that one to dad for his mini. I then swapped it for a bling china rad it bumped right upto halfway. SAME ENGINE* cooled better with old aircon now not running aircon with alloy rad. just sits at halfway. they says to me the chinese rads are crap. bought a mini spares super core 2 one see how that go's. thats all & yeh have had it running hotter then normal with this chinese rads going upto 3/4 i just don't think they are good at all. dunno. |

Hmmmmm,,, we run our twin cam turbo injected engine at over 160hp & no probs with chinese rads,,,, same with Sooooo many more of my Normal 1275 & up to 415cc engine builds & not one has a problem like you`re describing Edit--> Oh & as for aussie 3 core rads,,, beautiful rad,,, no dramas with them at all either, i`ve been running one of those in my 1500cc at over 100hp for years & years & years (& all my mates with all their 1415cc engines) ,,,again --> no problems |

Hey matt, any of your customers run air con? That could be whats causing a big air block. And nick, what coolant did you run? |

i know! dunno. I bought the 40mm not 50mm core. ill try this mini 2 core one. see how i go. it's a fresh engine too the new head is on and a few other things. before & after the same deal runs a bit hotter. it's only sitting on halfway mind you. still seems odd. ill see when i change over rads. ![]() |

My speedway mini (for EG) rad a std Aussie 3-core for approx 10 years with the front of the car pretty-well blocked off & ran perfect normal temp the whole time heat soak after switching it off in the pits after the race was another whole problem tho ![]() But,,, i`m not saying that my engines are the very fastest in the whole wide world,,, i know of some that are faster & "some" of those still run std rad,,, some others run 2 rads or just a motha huge one,,, but for the general public here on this (& many other) forums,,, std issue aussie 3 core rad is tops,,, alloy chinese (That we use) are no problem either The Turbo Twinky rad is actually a single core,,, yep,,, single row,,, & we had to run an 88deg thermostat to get it up to temp,,, most of the other chinese rads i`ve seen & used are 2 core/row |

I would invest in a laser thermometer. Check the temp of the water both in and out of the engine . This will tell you if the thermostat is causing problems or if the inlet temp is high then there is not enough heat transfer occuring in the radiator. The critical factors for heat transfer [calculated in Watts per square meter] are 1 the total volume of water cooled 2 the velocity of the water passing thru the cooler 3 the temperature differential at each end of the cooler. A 3 core has more water in the cooling area, and as Doc said more fins IE surface area for heat transfer. As for the "who flung dung" alloy ones, they are crap and will not last. I have seen 3 that just split around the core/tank area and one bloke stuffed his whole engine. But there again I just dislike their crap. |

my chinese aly rad is brilliant. if anything it's too good in cold weather, even with 84 deg thermostat. But now parked in traffic, it barely get's over 1/2 way on the gauge. with the old 3 core it would shoot up to 3/4 in no time. I did not ever get the 3 core checked and fixed, as the aly's are too cheap an option!! |

From what I have seen the quality and materials in particular are highly variable on the alloy radiators. Many I have seen have split and it really is not a good idea to run so many dissimilar metals together but that aside, NG, there is clearly another problem here and it ain't the radiator. |
