1960s suburbia.

Check out the rear view mirror location.

A lot of academic geeks with thick rim glasses bought green 850s back then - my English teacher was one, my science tutor was another. Along with narrow ties and pointy toe shoes.

And there was a stage where large chromed ornaments were used to adorn the front tops of bonnets - items like large chrome eagles were popular along with various arrow shaped ornamental fittings. Maybe looked ok on the S type Valiant but tended to dwarf a Mini. Even so fashion was fashion and many an 850's bonnet was so adorned. Unthinkable now.

Rear wheel spats (often with pressed louvres). mesh sun visors and rear venetian blinds were also a popular additions, and all these too were fitted to Minis.

Slide you reminded me - that photo was taken before the rear louvres were added and the mesh sunvizor - but I note after the mirror and the seatbelts.

I had no choice in the green - I hated it - but my mother was paying (loan) Oh and those pointy shoes were suede 8)
