I understand this is a MK II S cylinder head. Does that look right?

What sort of work has been done to the chambers - minor or significant?

What are the numbers stamped on the end?

Well it's a 12G940 head casting by the shape, might be a Mk2 S. Valve sizes look about right. Chambers have been cleaned up a little. Inlet ports look cleaned out near the valves.

Does it have 12G1805 stamped near the thermo housing (1/8 letters)?
Not all Mk2Ss did...

Keith Calver says
" A+ heads generally have three collet grooves in the valves, collets are 14-degree cone taper instead of the 10-degree on single groove collets (so parts are not interchangeable between single and triple groove types) and the top-caps have a raised ridge around the collet hole "

This is not a A+ head from the pics, it's flat on top all round the thermo housing.

No, nothing stamped in that area.

I'm assuming the stamping on the end of the head near the heater outlet was done by whoever worked on it. It appears to have been chemically dipped or blasted to remove all the paint and grime.

I got from eBay user fat850. Is he on here?

Obviously I was reading the wrong section the article :)

Did the head stamping change when they started on the GT :?

It looks like its possibly a Mk2 S / Clubman GT head as the casting indent next to the therom housing is the same as my S engine

Measure the valves that may also help

Hope this helps
