Post subject: | 8.4 inch caliper pistons |
Bought some caliper pistons from UK for 8.4s. Brake place reckons they are too tight a fit and thinks they will damage the seals on install. What are people using? Part No? Karcraft are at nil stock atm. Also brake place recomended pistons with the step in the back so they dont make noise? Any ideas welcome. Cheers. |

If you want the original step which goes at top, (good idea IMO) take to a machine shop and get it done. All new pistons these days seem to be made cheap without the step. BTW this step is not for noise reduction, it's to avoid the pads wearing tapered (thinner at top). As far as seal damage goes, the important thing is have a decent radius on the front of piston so they don't tear the seal during fitment. I fitted some new 998 ones recently, and had to increase the radius for this reason. If they drop in easily with no seals there, I'd say the diameter is OK. |
